Common fixes

The problems people write to us about most, and what fixes them.

The mail server rejects my passwordAlmost always the wrong password or username. Use the mailbox's own login.
  1. Use the mailbox password, not your hosting or control panel login.
  2. Use the full email address as the username.
  3. If the mailbox has two-factor sign-in, use an app password.
  4. Reset the password where your host lists email accounts (cPanel: Email Accounts).
  5. Check the server names against our provider guides.

Connected, but the assistant sees no mailThe mailbox is connected, but your assistant says it has no email tools or finds nothing.
  1. Open Inboxes in the dashboard and check that the mailbox is listed without an error. If it shows one, reconnect it.
  2. Start a new chat after adding the connector. In Claude, check that MCPEmails is switched on under + and Connectors. In ChatGPT, type @ and pick MCPEmails, and @mention it again when a follow-up needs your mail.
  3. Authorize the connector with the same MCPEmails account that holds the mailbox.
  4. Your assistant only sees the tools your connector or API key is scoped for. If you left a scope unticked, remove the connector and add it again.
  5. Ask the assistant to list your inboxes first. Mail is fetched when the assistant asks for it, so nothing arrives on its own.

Getting started

What MCPEmails doesIt connects your mailboxes to AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor through one URL.

Mail is fetched live for each request and not stored. The exception is scheduled or held sends, which are stored until they are sent. Apart from those, only your encrypted mailbox password or access token is kept.
