Give your AI agent a real Hetzner inbox. Read, search, send, reply, schedule and organize mail over IMAP at mail.your-server.de, using the mailbox password you set in konsoleH.
Claude cannot reach a Hetzner mailbox on its own. mcpemails is a hosted MCP server that connects Hetzner Web Hosting mail over IMAP at mail.your-server.de on port 993, authenticating with your full email address and the mailbox password you set when creating the account in konsoleH, so Claude, Cursor or any MCP client can read, search, send and organize the mail. The hostname is literally mail.your-server.de for every customer, not a variant of your own domain. One inbox is free, forever.
Hetzner's shared mail platform, the one behind Web Hosting and Managed Server plans administered through konsoleH, serves IMAP at mail.your-server.de on port 993 with implicit TLS and SMTP at the same host on port 465. That hostname is a literal string, identical for every Hetzner hosting customer, and Hetzner's own documentation writes it exactly that way. The username is the full mail address such as info@your-domain.de, and the password is the one entered in the two password fields when the mailbox was created in konsoleH. That mailbox password is a separate credential from the konsoleH login you use to administer the account. This page is about that hosted mailbox. A mail server you installed and run yourself on a Hetzner Cloud or dedicated machine is an entirely different situation, covered below.
Copy these into the connect form. mcpemails prefills them where it can, and retries the other standard transport if the first does not answer.
| Protocol | Server | Port | Security |
|---|---|---|---|
| IMAP (incoming) | mail.your-server.de | 993 | TLS (implicit) |
| SMTP (outgoing) | mail.your-server.de | 465 | TLS (implicit) |
Verified 2026-08-31: mail.your-server.de answered a TLS connection and identified itself as an IMAP server under that name. It advertises LOGIN, PLAIN authentication.

Nine action-based MCP tools, not just drafts. Your agent finishes the job inside Hetzner.
List, read and search across folders to find that invoice, summarize a thread, or pull the latest from a sender.
Compose and send real messages, reply in-thread, and forward, directly from your mailbox, not as a draft you finish by hand.
Queue a message to go out at the right time, so your agent can draft now and send on schedule.
Keep the inbox tidy: file mail into folders, flag what matters, archive the rest, or delete on request.
From sign-up to first AI email in a couple of minutes.
Sign up at mcpemails.com. The free plan connects one inbox forever and does not ask for a card.
Log in to konsoleH, select the domain, and open E-Mail, then Mailboxes. Pick the address and enter a new password in both password fields if you do not have the current one. Note that the mailbox is created with only the local part before the at sign, but the full address is what you type as the username in any client.
Choose IMAP / SMTP, enter the full address, and paste the mailbox password. The host mail.your-server.de and ports 993 and 465 are prefilled and were verified from a live TLS connection.
Drop https://mcpemails.com/api/mcp into Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT, authorize, and your agent has the inbox.

The most common Hetzner setup failure is entering mail.your-domain.de with your actual domain substituted in, because that is how nearly every other host works. Hetzner does not do that. The string mail.your-server.de is the real hostname, shared by every hosting customer, and typing your own domain in its place produces either a DNS failure or a connection to some unrelated server that happens to answer on that name. Hetzner's documentation writes the literal hostname, and people read it as a placeholder.
Hetzner sells two very different things that both get called "Hetzner email". Web Hosting and Managed Server plans include mailboxes on the shared platform described here. Cloud and dedicated servers include no mailbox at all: if you want mail on one, you install and run a mail server yourself, and the hostname, ports and credentials are whatever you configured. That is a self-hosted mail server that happens to sit at Hetzner, and it connects the same way any self-hosted server does. Worth knowing before you start: Hetzner blocks outbound SMTP on new cloud servers by default and unblocks it only on request, so a self-run mail server there cannot send until you ask them.
The Dovecot build behind mail.your-server.de does not advertise the MOVE extension, so a move is carried out as a copy followed by a flag update and an expunge rather than one atomic command. UIDPLUS is absent too, so the destination UID of a copied message is not returned and must be located by searching. SPECIAL-USE is also missing, meaning Sent, Drafts, Trash and Junk are matched by their names. On a German-language mailbox those are frequently Gesendet, Entwuerfe, Papierkorb and Spam, so name the folder explicitly if an agent cannot find it.
Not on its own. Claude has no built-in connector for Hetzner. Pointing an MCP server such as mcpemails at your Hetzner mailbox over IMAP gives Claude read, search, send, reply, schedule and organize access to it, and the same connection works from Cursor, ChatGPT and other MCP clients.
Both are mail.your-server.de. IMAP uses port 993 with implicit TLS and SMTP uses port 465, also implicit TLS. The username is your complete email address and the password is the mailbox password from konsoleH. That host is a literal name shared by every Hetzner hosting customer and was confirmed from a live TLS connection.
Because it is the wrong credential. The konsoleH login administers the hosting account, while each mailbox carries its own password set at creation time in the Mailboxes screen. If nobody recorded it, open that screen and enter a new one in both password fields, then use the new one in the client.
Yes, but not through this page's settings. A self-run mail server uses whatever hostname and credentials you configured for it, and mail.your-server.de is not it. Connect it as a generic IMAP server. Remember that Hetzner blocks outbound SMTP ports on new cloud servers until you ask support to unblock them.
No. Messages are fetched live from Hetzner over IMAP for each request and handed to your AI client. Credentials are encrypted at rest and message bodies are not retained.
