Give your AI agent a real comcast.net inbox. Read, search, send, reply, schedule and organise mail over IMAP with your Xfinity ID, in every MCP client rather than one.
Claude cannot reach a Comcast Xfinity mailbox on its own. mcpemails is a hosted MCP server that connects it over IMAP at imap.comcast.net on port 993, signing in with your full comcast.net address and your Xfinity ID password. Xfinity blocks all outside mail clients until you tick Third Party Access Security in Xfinity Email settings, so turn that on first or the correct password is still refused. Setup takes a couple of minutes and one inbox is free, forever.
Comcast serves IMAP at imap.comcast.net on port 993 over TLS and SMTP at smtp.comcast.net on port 465, also implicit TLS. The credential is your ordinary Xfinity ID password; there is no app password to generate. The obstacle is a setting rather than a secret. Xfinity keeps a switch called Third Party Access Security in the email settings, and it is only ticked for accounts that were already using an outside client. For everyone else it is off, and while it is off the server refuses every login from every client with an error that reads exactly like a wrong password. Turn it on once, in webmail, and the same credentials that were being rejected start working.
Copy these into the connect form. mcpemails prefills them where it can, and retries the other standard transport if the first does not answer.
| Protocol | Server | Port | Security |
|---|---|---|---|
| IMAP (incoming) | imap.comcast.net | 993 | TLS (implicit) |
| SMTP (outgoing) | smtp.comcast.net | 465 | TLS (implicit) |
Verified 2026-08-31: imap.comcast.net answered a TLS connection and identified itself as an IMAP server under that name. It advertises LOGIN, OAUTHBEARER, PLAIN, XOAUTH2 authentication.

Nine action-based MCP tools: send, reply, forward, schedule, and organize. Your agent finishes the job inside Comcast Xfinity.
List, read and search across folders to find that invoice, summarize a thread, or pull the latest from a sender.
Compose and send real messages, reply in-thread, and forward, directly from your mailbox, not as a draft you finish by hand.
Queue a message to go out at the right time, so your agent can draft now and send on schedule.
Keep the inbox tidy: file mail into folders, flag what matters, archive the rest, or delete on request.
From sign-up to first AI email in a couple of minutes.
Sign up at mcpemails.com. The free plan connects one inbox and does not ask for a card.
Sign in to Xfinity Email at connect.xfinity.com, click the gear icon, choose Settings, then Security, and tick the box under Third Party Access Security. Xfinity warns you about the risk of outside clients as you do it. Nothing else on this page works until that box is ticked.
Choose IMAP / SMTP, enter your full @comcast.net address and the password for that Xfinity ID. The Comcast hosts are prefilled. If your account uses two step verification, complete it in webmail first so the sign in is not still pending.
Drop https://mcpemails.com/api/mcp into Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT, authorise, and your agent has the inbox.

If you have never used Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird with this mailbox, the box is unticked, and Comcast's own article says so. Users also report it turning itself off again after a forced password reset. So when a connection that worked yesterday starts failing today with an authentication error, check that box before you touch anything else. It is at connect.xfinity.com under the gear icon, Settings, then Security.
If you no longer buy Xfinity service, Comcast keeps the address only if you had signed in to the Xfinity Email website within the 90 days before disconnecting, and it stays alive only if you sign in there at least once every nine months. The requirement is worded around the Xfinity Email website, so do not assume that an agent polling over IMAP satisfies it. Sign in with a browser a couple of times a year.
The Dovecot front end at imap.comcast.net does not advertise SPECIAL-USE, so a client cannot ask which folder is Sent and which is Trash and must match them by name instead. It also omits MOVE and UIDPLUS, so filing a message runs as COPY, then STORE the deleted flag, then EXPUNGE, and the server does not report the id of the new copy. mcpemails does all of this for you; it is why a move on Comcast is not a single atomic operation.
imap.comcast.net offers OAUTHBEARER and XOAUTH2 alongside PLAIN and LOGIN. Those OAuth mechanisms are for Comcast's own partners rather than for anyone who asks, and there is no self service page where a customer obtains a token. Password authentication with third party access switched on is the route available to you, and it is what mcpemails uses.
Not directly. Claude has no built-in Comcast connector. Connecting an MCP server such as mcpemails to the mailbox over IMAP gives Claude read, search, send, reply, schedule and organise access to your comcast.net mail, and the same connection works in Cursor, ChatGPT and other MCP clients.
IMAP is imap.comcast.net on port 993 with implicit TLS. SMTP is smtp.comcast.net on port 465, also implicit TLS, with authentication required. The username is your full comcast.net address. Both hosts were verified from a live TLS connection on the date shown on this page.
Almost always because Third Party Access Security is switched off. Xfinity leaves it off for accounts that were not already using an outside mail client, and while it is off the server refuses correct credentials. Tick the box at connect.xfinity.com under the gear icon, then Settings, then Security, and try again.
No. Comcast does not issue app specific passwords. A mail client signs in with the password for your Xfinity ID once third party access is enabled. If you see advice about generating an app password for comcast.net, it is describing a different provider's process and there is no such page in Xfinity settings.
Only if the mailbox is still active. Comcast lets former customers keep the address if they signed in to the Xfinity Email website in the 90 days before disconnecting, and requires a sign in there at least once every nine months to keep it. A closed mailbox cannot be connected and cannot be recovered.
No. Messages are fetched live from Comcast over IMAP for each request and passed to your AI client. Credentials are encrypted at rest and message bodies are not retained.
Tick third party access, connect in minutes. One inbox free forever, no card required.
