Give your AI agent a real HostGator mailbox. Read, search, send, reply, schedule and organize mail over IMAP, using the server hostname HostGator's certificate actually covers.
Claude cannot reach a HostGator mailbox on its own. mcpemails is a hosted MCP server that connects it over plain IMAP on port 993, so Claude, Cursor or any MCP client can read, search, send and organize that mail. HostGator does not run one shared mail server: for a secure connection you point at your own server's hostname, which is gatorNNNN.hostgator.com on shared and cloud plans and servername.websitewelcome.com on reseller plans, because those are the names their wildcard certificate covers. Authentication is the password set on the mailbox in cPanel, and one inbox is free.
HostGator runs cPanel, and mailboxes speak IMAP on port 993 with SMTP on 465 for secure connections, or 143 and 25 or 587 unencrypted. The part people get wrong is the hostname. mail.yourdomain.com works for an unencrypted session, but HostGator secures mail with wildcard certificates covering .hostgator.com on shared and cloud accounts and .websitewelcome.com on reseller accounts. Your own domain is not on either certificate. So for TLS you use the server's own hostname, in the form gator1234.hostgator.com or servername.websitewelcome.com. HostGator's own SSL article says exactly this, and recommends updating the settings rather than suppressing the warning. The username is always the full email address.
Nine action-based MCP tools: send, reply, forward, schedule, and organize. Your agent finishes the job inside HostGator.
List, read and search across folders to find that invoice, summarize a thread, or pull the latest from a sender.
Compose and send real messages, reply in-thread, and forward, directly from your mailbox, not as a draft you finish by hand.
Queue a message to go out at the right time, so your agent can draft now and send on schedule.
Keep the inbox tidy: file mail into folders, flag what matters, archive the rest, or delete on request.

From the HostGator Customer Portal, choose Hosting, then Manage, then cPanel under Quick Links. Once cPanel opens, look at your browser's address bar. The hostname in that URL is your server: gator1234.hostgator.com on shared and cloud, or a websitewelcome.com name on reseller. That is the value to use for both IMAP and SMTP. It is also printed under Email Accounts, then Connect Devices, in the Mail Client Manual Settings block.
IMAP authenticates against the password set on the individual address. In cPanel, open Email Accounts and click Manage next to the address to set one. Then paste it into mcpemails together with the full email address as the username and the server hostname you just copied.
Drop https://mcpemails.com/api/mcp into Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT, authorize, and your agent has the inbox.

A shared or cloud account is covered by the wildcard on .hostgator.com; a reseller account is covered by the one on .websitewelcome.com. That means a reseller who follows a shared-hosting HostGator guide and enters a gator hostname does not just get a certificate warning, they connect to the wrong machine entirely. Check which product you have before copying anyone's settings, including HostGator's own articles, several of which are written for one case only.
HostGator does not print the server hostname prominently in the portal, and the number in gator1234 is not derivable from your domain, your account number or anything else you already know. The reliable trick is to open cPanel and read the hostname straight out of the URL. Support and the Connect Devices page will both tell you the same thing, but the address bar is one click away and cannot be misread.
Because the mismatch is so common on HostGator, the usual workaround is to accept the certificate or add an exception. A desktop client lets you. An automated IMAP connection from a server, which is what an MCP integration is, generally will not, and should not: once you habitually ignore the name mismatch you have no way to notice a genuine one. Point at the server hostname and the certificate validates properly, with no exception anywhere.
Not directly. Claude has no HostGator connector. Connecting an MCP server such as mcpemails to the mailbox over IMAP gives Claude read, search, send, reply, schedule and organize access to it, with the same credentials any desktop mail client would use.
Secure IMAP is port 993 and secure SMTP is port 465, both with implicit TLS. The hostname is your server's own name: gator followed by your server number and hostgator.com on shared and cloud plans, or a websitewelcome.com name on reseller plans. Use the full email address as the username for both incoming and outgoing.
Because HostGator secures mail with wildcard certificates for hostgator.com and websitewelcome.com, and your own domain is not listed on them. Pointing a client at mail.yourdomain.com over TLS therefore fails name validation. Replace the hostname with your server's name and the error stops without any exception being added.
Log in to the Customer Portal, choose Hosting, then Manage, then cPanel. When cPanel opens, the hostname in your browser's address bar is your server name. The same value appears in cPanel under Email Accounts, then Connect Devices, in the Mail Client Manual Settings section.
No. Messages are fetched live from your HostGator server over IMAP for each request and passed to your AI client. Credentials are encrypted at rest and message bodies are not retained.
